BANGS — The Bangs High School Debate team has had a successful year.

On Jan. 3, members of the Congressional Debate Team, made up of Marina Nichols, Corbin Freeland and Abigail Poling, competed at the state meet in Austin. Nichols advanced to the final round and competed at the state capitol, where she placed 13th out of 51.

On Feb. 3, the Cross Examination Debate teams competed at the District Meet. Carlos Perkins and Corbin Freeland placed second and and will be attending the state meet in March. Annaliese Fales and Caleb Freeland placed third and are the alternates to state. Carlos Perkins was given the Golden Gavel award which signifies that he was the top speaker of the day.

Congratulations to Bangs FFA member Max Tongate for exhibiting the Overall Grand Champion Barrow at the San Angelo Livestock Show last week.  On Wednesday Max won Grand Champion Hampshire Barrow, beating all 284 Hampshire barrows in his breed.  Then on Thursday, Max won Overall Grand Champion Barrow of the whole show, beating all of the 1,678 Barrows who had competed in the show.  On Saturday, Max recieved $13,000 in the sale for his accomplishments.

Congratulations to the Language Olympics teams for their great performance on Saturday at Hardin Simmons University. 

Spanish 1 teams: 

Adriana Murphy and Shumara Finley got 2nd place; Logan Bishop and Aron Mendoza got 3rd place.


Spanish 2 teams: 

Sandy Rodriguez and Jaydon Brandon got 1st place; Mia Campos and Robert Blakeley got 4th place.
