Bangs ISD Board of Trustees Hires Superintendent

At a special meeting held Friday, March 27, by the Bangs Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees, Dr. Joshua Martin was officially hired as the next Superintendent of Bangs ISD.  Dr. Martin is replacing retiring Superintendent Tony Truelove.

Bangs ISD will host a ‘Meet and Greet’ at a later date in order to give the community an opportunity to welcome Dr. Martin and his family to Bangs.

Martin will start his role as BISD superintendent on April 16.  With COVID-19 at the forefront of most conversations today, Bangs ISD is consulting with local and state health departments to ensure appropriate safety guidelines are followed during Martin’s move from Collin County, Texas.

“It’s a great day to be a Dragon,” Martin said. “I cannot express how excited and grateful I am for this opportunity, and how much I am looking forward to working with the students, families, and staff of Bangs ISD.”

Educational Adjustments Based on Governor Abbott’s March 31st Orders

Based on the March 31st executive order of Governor Abbott, the Bangs, Blanket, Brookesmith, Brownwood, Coleman, Early, May, Panther Creek, Santa Anna, and Zephyr ISDs report the extension of closure until at least May 4, 2020.

Districts will maintain their off-campus instructional programs for students and their meal programs, according to each district’s plan. Personnel should maintain communication with their supervisors to coordinate work to maintain core district operations. Staff who have been providing their services remotely should continue to do so in coordination with their supervisors.

Any employee in a household with a person testing positive for COVID, or any employee with a fever, cough, or shortness of breath is ordered to stay home and seek medical consultation. Employees at work with a fever greater than 99.9 will be sent home.

For those essential employees who must still maintain a physical presence in the district:

  • Don’t shake hands and wash hands regularly

  • Avoid meetings or work environments with more than five people in close proximity

  • Social distancing (at least six feet away from other people) should be observed regardless of crowd size

This is a quickly changing situation, and we will continue to monitor all the available information. We will provide updates via our district websites and email. Thank you for your patience, support, and cooperation.

Tony Truelove, Superintendent of Schools

To be able to effectively and reliably break up the virus cells, you must wash your hands thoroughly and vigorously for at least 20 seconds.

While it is important to wash your hands, it is also important that we all regularly disinfect surfaces.

COVID-19 has been shown to live for up to three days on various surfaces.

If you must leave your home for essential services, be sure to wash your hands as soon as you return and disinfect any surfaces you may have touched. If someone in your home is ill, it’s also important to regularly disinfect.

You can spread #COVID19 without knowing you have it. Whether you have symptoms or not, #StayHome. If you have to go out, wear a mask/bandana/scarf, regularly wash your hands, and stay 6 feet apart.

We must stay #ApartTogether to slow coronavirus. https://tea.texas.gov/staywell
